Hardwood Floor Refinishing

After 20 years, hardwood floors begin showing their age; worn urethane, scratches, dullness and discoloration are the most common signs that the wood is due for refinishing.

Fortunately, the typical ¾-inch-thick hardwood floor can be refinished about six to eight times during its lifetime. So unless you live in a particularly old house, or a previous resident was an especially aggressive refinisher, chances are good that your wood floors can be restored to a beautiful condition.

Depending on the nature of the damage, contamination, wear or just general condition, different refinishing approaches can be proposed and the floors could be brought back to a beautiful condition. In some cases the floor has deteriorated beyond restoration and complete or partial replacement may be necessary.

The FloorCrafter upholds a long tradition of providing precision instruments to a craftsman's trade. The FloorCrafter, engineered to be the most aggressive belt machine in the industry, was also designed to provide reduced vibration. Its cutting ability allows the hardwood sanding professional the ability to increase production while achieving imperfection-free results.

The Bona DCS 70 is a powerful vacuum unit for dust free sanding. Its two-step cyclonic separation and unique filter design effectively contains dust within the machine, even changing the dust bag can be done completely dust free. With the DCS 70 connected to the sanding machine there is no need to seal off connecting rooms or cover paintings and bookshelves and the environment will be a lot healthier and nicer to work in compared to using regular dust bags on the sanding machine.

Staining enriches the finish by adding contrast and leaving the wood looking natural and darkening the grains.

Silver

To save on cost for medium or lower traffic areas where smell and dry time are not as critical we suggest the Silver package using oil based BONA Woodline. A premium oil modified wood floor finish Bona Woodline is formulated for interior use on residential and commercial wood floors. Bona Woodline provides a tough protective coat and slight amber colour to enhance the natural tone of the wood.

The drying time for Bona Woodline is 24 hours to walk on and full cure in 14 days.

Gold

For less severe applications we recommend the Gold package using Bona Mega. Having exceptional durability, beauty and value the Greenguard certified Bona Mega is virtually odorless has exceptional build and clarity and dries in approximately 4 hours.

Platinum

In high traffic and wear applications, we highly recommend the Platinum package with Bona Traffic, a 2 component commercial grade water-based finish. This finish is ideal for heavy-use residential and commercial applications. Bona Traffic is the best of the best where the floor must stand up to constant use and abrasion.

Having a unique combination of durability, scratch and scuff resistance, clarity and grain definition, giving the wood a vibrant rich color Bona Traffic boasts a true Satin appearance. Bona Traffic has seamless “touch up” capabilities for repairs due to pets or moving furniture. In addition, Bona Traffic has high “haptic” properties giving wood floors a warm and comforting feel underfoot.

We apply heavy coats to give your floors outstanding protection. It dries in about 4 hours and is fully cured in 7 days.

We highly recommend this finish for active households, those with children and dogs. If it's in your budget and you want the best of durability and appearance, this is for you.
