Flooring Herringbone

Herringbone

Our specialty at Sheffield Hardwood is designing and building custom parquet and herringbone floors using the colours of different wood species, and stains as required to define and enhance the pattern.

Contemporary Hardwoord Floor

Contemporary

In this example, using the colours of different species of wood to define the herringbone pattern. By using the gradient of colours within a wood species, effects can be accentuated either subtlety or prominently. This is demonstrated in the contemporary blanket quilt design adjacent. One interesting feature of this design is, depending on the orientation of the pattern in the room a different visual / impression is created. The species used in this floor are Black walnut, Hard maple, Red maple, Red oak, Brazilian tigerwood and Paduak.

Whimsical Hardwood Floor

Whimsical

Our whimsical designs are limited only by your imagination. Our artist Donna Adams can sketch a floor based on your interests or examples found online. The design adjacent represents otters swimming in the lake outside of the room it was installed in. The herringbone pattern in the centre wood represents the waves.

Traditional Hardwood

Traditional

There are many traditional designs of herringbone and parquet floors originating in Europe – particularly France that are intricate and all very beautiful. Combining our artistic creativity with precision craftsmanship we can duplicate or recreate these designs to your preference.
